If you’ve ever been to any one of our four locations, it is likely that within minutes you could tell that we at Coast Motor Werk are very happy, friendly people. We take our jobs seriously, but not really ourselves. (Remember our JibJab video from last Christmas?) We know how to laugh and have a good time. We have amazing team cohesion, and we are productive and efficient in our work. And best of all, our customers love us because we treat them (and their beloved Bimmers) right. Every time.
Why are we so happy? Well, many reasons – but we’d like to think that the dogs of Coast Motor Werk have something to do with it.
We love this article from Fast Company about the positive effects dogs can have on your productivity at work, and we agree wholeheartedly because we’ve experienced it firsthand.
AnimalSmart.org says that playing with or petting a dog increases your oxytocin levels (a hormone that reduces stress) and lowers your cortisol (stress hormone) levels. The presence of dogs has been shown to lower blood pressure and depression, and encourages you to get up and move around, which boosts energy as well as mood.
Here’s what research shows about dog-friendly businesses:
- employees are happier because they have better work-life balance and don’t have to leave their dogs at home alone all day
- dogs make employees happy and boost morale
- dogs help build community and team cohesiveness
- dogs contribute positive energy to the business
- dogs relieve stress
- dogs help increase productivity
And now we’d like to introduce you to our furry friends, the lovable Dogs of Coast Motor Werk:
Lucy, World’s Most Loving Dog
Lucy is literally the happiest, most loving dog on the planet. She has never met a stranger. She’s a serial optimist. Every day is the best day ever as far as Lucy is concerned. She has an uncanny knack for making everyone feel special and loved. She may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but she’s a beauty, and precious as the day is long.
Want to make a new best friend for life? Stop in and meet Lucy. She’ll make your day.
Maggie, The Boss
Maggie is a tough cookie. She was abandoned at a young age and lived on the streets of Georgia till she was picked up by the pound, where she was scheduled to be put down. With the help of a generous Massachusetts shelter, Maggie narrowly escaped death. As a result of her near-death experience, she vowed to live life to its fullest, so she moved across the country to enjoy the warm weather and salty air of Huntington Beach.
Maggie enjoys bossing Lucy around and keeping us all in line. Stop by and visit Maggie and you’ll be impressed at what a tight ship she runs around here.
